Me: I should probably just read the Bible and pray. After all, updating God is better than updating Facebook.
Myself: True, but God doesn’t give the little thumbs up or smiley face that makes me feel better.
I: Am I really having this conversation with myself?
“Be not rash with your mouth, nor let your heart be hasty to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven and you are on earth. Therefore let your words be few.” 1)Ecclesiastes 5:2
“Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.” 2) Proverbs 29:20
Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body 3)Proverbs 16:24.
We just need to exercise discipline in our social media usage. In our digital age it is so easy to just post something without any critical reflection. Let’s be wise. Let’s go to God with what is on our minds first and pray if what we want to share is really worth sharing. We who are Christians have a higher holy of holies to go to than our social media pages.
There is nothing wrong with the motto: “Let your updates be few.”
