Grant Snider is a talented artist and humorist. I may occasionally post some of Grant’s work and pulling a few thoughts from them. This first one is the hierarchy of humor. You may or may not agree with his assessment but notice how Grant not only conceptualized his idea in a mixture of images but single word descriptions.
When I was a pastor, the key to a good message was simplicity and to a degree self referential authentication. Regardless of our business, what we want to do is communicate clearly, concisely, and creatively. Let us call these the 3c’s. Grant does all three rather well. When we communicate, we need to make sure it meets at least these three keys of clarity, conciseness, and creativity.
We will revisit this illustration in another update but let us work on these three goals in our communication with our clients and our colleagues. My only question for Grant is where do dad jokes fall into his hierarchy of humor?
